Despite the opportunity, however, there was not much in the way of character maturity and I think this is largely due to the susa of the book. I don’t even kind of pretend to personally know what it’s like, because I’ve never done it. Blood Wounds is a page-turning read that pauses you to think about what humans to do one another.
Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. The story is entertaining, even with the serious themes it carries. I found this book to be extremely unrealistic is so many ways.
The conflicts are universal. The Year Without Michael. The only time I felt any emotion while reading was during the scenes that talked about or showed Willa cutting- and it’s not the emotion I was supposed suasn feel. While Willa deals with the truth of her blood relatives and her feelings of shame, she explores the difference between a healthy family relationship and one where members are forced to suppress their needs and wants to keep the peace.

Because of Brooke and Alyssa’s special schools, they must move once again, right before Willa’s senior year.
She hardly ever let her emotions go and when she did, an adult, whether it was her parents or her parents’ friends would reel her back in. Always feeling left out Willa cuts herself to relieve the stress she feels in her home.
It gets a little messy, though, with Willa’s mother keeping information about her father from her She travels to Texas to attend the funeral of her sisters and reveals even more family secrets.
Get to Know Us. It wasn’t at all what I was expecting or hoping for. When I first heard about Blood Wounds, I was really excited.
