Mary Ann rated it really liked it Oct 27, I like some of his philosophy, like I think that my dog does need to see me as the top dog and be able to trust me that I know what I’m doing and will take care of both of us, but I just didn’t like his aggressiveness with his training methods, like the leash correction.

I can’t remember exactly what titles I have as they’re a state over in my dorm room, but I know I have a Monks of New Skeet book, a Cesar Millan book, and some old outdated thing I found at my boyfriend’s house that recommends leash corrections and ear pinching and such. As far as dog training goes you will always get a different end if you use a different means; even if the guy has good intentions, aversive or corrective methods are not going to result in as confident and unafraid of a dog as positive training methods.
I’m only at the part where he recommends leashing your dog to you for about 2 hours a day for 2 weeks so the dog learns to respect your boundaries and interacts with you.
It’s not all bad, but it could be better. He is based very much in Canada so his name gets used as a running joke in my area.

Again it’s not terrible but there is better material out there, with fewer weird rules like the assumption that giving your dog food is always bribing them.
